2-Day Tour of Bedfordshire

Once again this year’s county Tour was blessed with fine weather. The sun shone both days. Bedfordshire was the fifth of our stated goal of completing the eight counties bordering Northamptonshire.

After meeting at Hanslope we, Trevor Parrish, John Dunkley, Paul Clarke, Harry Clements, David Eastham and your truly, headed off in a north easterly direction towards the area around Kimbolton and Grafham Water where we had our lunch stop. Quiet lanes were then used to follow the county boundary towards Great Barford where we turned west into Bedford for our overnight accommodation.

Next morning we retraced the cycleway we had used the afternoon before as it was the quickest and easiest way out of Bedford. Once at the Cambridgeshire county boundary we headed south through Potton, Langford and Meppershall to Barton le Clay. A late lunch was taken at Stockgrove Country Park. Soon afterward, as we approached Milton Keynes, we started to go our separate ways. A total of 160 miles were covered over the weekend.
